Each of these front cover magazines have different poses and colours, however, these conventions are used to make it clear to the buyer what genre it is. All these magazines have one vibrant colour to represent their genre. For example for 'NME' magazine there main colour is red, this sets the genre for this magazine. The colour that is used the most (could be seen in the masthead, main image, story lines) is usually the one that catches the buyers eye. The colour and font you use for your front cover is critical for the buyer that you get it right. So they dont get the wrong magazine. The costume of the artist has to be right and bold to match the genre and season. Even the artist that is the main image matters it has to be someone that is popular an well known like the 'top 40' chart singers. Although the main image is important to the magazine, so is the sell lines. The sell lines need to be short and snappy for a 'pop' genre because this type of genre is aimed at teenagers and teens dont want to be reading paragraphs. Teens want advice , fashion and the latest updates. these magazines off their target audience most recent and popular artist and updates about them that the buyers want to know.
