Final Product!

Evaluation// 7)Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression it to the full product?

In this evaluation i am going to discuss what improvements i have changed and why i have changed it. I created my own title for my music magazine as it shows my understanding of what a conventional masthead should look like, I choose pink and blue so it was perceivable to my target audience and what gender it was mostly focusing on. On my music front cover I added three more images however what I did differently was I didn't put a border round it, like more college magazine, this was my way of developing my skills to make a secondary image look sofisticated  and provocative to look at. The font I used on my music magazine is comparable with the genre type I have choose and is effortless read. Whereas the college magazine is not comfortably read as the font is too thin and not bold enough to read, the font isn't artificial to the type of audience it is aiming, therefore only some will purchase this magazine, more than likely it will be female. That is why I choose a font that would compliment my genre and is clearcut to the target audience. Overall compared to my college , my music magazine has more of the conventions that would appeal to an audience, therefore, showing my knowledge and research has concluded to produce my final product.

Evaluation// 6)What have you learnt from the process of constructing this product?

Evaluation// 4) Who would be the audience for your media product?

The stereotypical gender audience for my magazine would be girls as my colour scheme and layout is more suitable for girls. Also the content of the feature story is aimed at a girl leaving a band to become a solo artist. On the other hand the age of my audience will be students/teen based as they are more aware of the latest music out which is much more important to them than the older generation. This is because teens want to look popular knowing all the fun facts about artists than their friends to gain more popularity. Whereas the older generation prefer to listen and read about music because its their passion or they are a fan of there music that the artist produces. However my magazine will be retailed at a reasonable price in contrast to the minimum wage for a teen, so that it is affordable for them to buy. My magazine is more aimed at the older teens like 13-19 as there isn't enough magazines that is produced to influence them into reading music magazine. So therefore created a magazine for the older teens as well as keep the younger teens in the same magazine, combination of different ages. However i created a reader profile which included aspects of mise-en-scene which related to my target audience, i.e. apps, games, fonts and themes. Although i decided to stay with the stereotypical theme colours which are quite bright and bold, more eye catchy and contrasted well with my feature artist. Some of the mise-en-scene i included was fonts that were bold curly and out standing to read from a distance, as well as using luminous colours to set the type of genre and typical target audience. I made a video finding out what young teenagers would expect in a pop magazine and one thing they said was up to-date charts and who is at the top and why they made it to the top. This helped me decide what i would include in my magazine, meaning that i would include the charts in the magazine as well as a interview with an artist. This is what my research said they would expect in a pop genre magazine.

Double page spread.

This is my double page spread and it contains an interview with Lucinda that has left a group band to be a solo artist. I did a survey on the questions that are in this article on what people said and used that to influence me to write this article. I have used a brick background to show that nothing can get in her way of succeeding in the music industry. The tagline next to the main image was just all in one vertical line however it looked to long so i cut it into two lines, so it doesn't seem there is much to read. To break the article down i placed stoppers throughout the content, this gives the reader a chance to read some of it then go do something else then come back to read some and know where they had stopped.

Process of double page spread

Using Photoshop has been the most difficult way to produce a magazine. However Photoshop has gave me a new set of skills that have developed from making my college magazine to my music magazine. From creating my front cover for college information, my Masthead was bright pink and my subject looked very out of focus and brighter than normal, whereas, my music magazine includes images that i have taken myself and edited to look naturalistic but glamorous as a star should look like. In this process i used the stamp tool to make my subject skin look smooth and gentle and less spotty. I also used the shape tool to create a square with round rims to place a second image inside it to show the use of images i have taken. On the other hand my main heading for this page is diagonal across the main image to show that this DPS belongs to this star who features the most in this music magazine.

Contents page

`Comparing the contents page to the front cover, the contents page holds a lot more information than the front cover. Whereas the front cover has more images. By researching other magazines, it has come to my attention that on a contents page, It should include more than just one image. In my research i found out that my type of audience prefer less writing and  more images explaining whats happened. That is why i am going to add more images to the bottom right hand side of this contents page, just to show its something more than writing to look at, more interesting. However by adding these images to this contents page; i will be using the software Photoshop. Photoshop allows me to edit the photographs to blend into  my background to make it look apart of the contents page. i used layers to achieve this. I took these image was a digital Cannon SLR camera.

On the other hand on this page, i have used a subheading 'Star Gossip'  this is to give a twist to the stories my magazine is about to be read. However the placement of this subheading is central but there is a gap above it that should be filled. To make this look even more fun and informal, i am going to rotate the subheading diagonal to take it off point and all over the place to make it seem like that there inst a lot to read.

Front Cover

From finishing my front cover ,I have learnt new skills along the way using adobe Photoshop and analysising front covers from different brands. What I have learnt from Photoshop is that using layers is an important feature for this project, as I used dafont online to use on my front cover to make it look poppy! During making my front cover the main software I have used was Adobe Photoshop on the Mac suites. Photoshop was the most suitable software to create a well professional front cover that looked like it was from an actual brand. I did research on what a typical magazine would look like , and found out that typical conventions include mastheads , plugs and taglines. From this I evaluated and analysis other magazines to see if they had followed the conventions and to see what was positive and what was negative and how I could interpret that into my front cover. If I was to do this task again I would try different colour schemes and text to show a more bolder and older magazine towards an older target audience. Also with the posters added to the side I could try to make them look more professional posters instead of a loulsey bright colour backgrounds with contrast too much with my colour scheme. However if had to do this task again I would place things a different way to make it look like I haven't just left huge amount of gaps in my background.

Shooting for my magazine.

I did a video of my shoot to show how and why i made my subject model the way she does. I got her to model in a way that, it was naturalistic and action, so it made the picture look like it was taken live. I believe this was a good idea as, it gives the viewers something to look at, and make them think about it before they realize what the subject is doing.

Process of Front Cover

TECHNOLOGY I HAVE USED.

Photoshop, I used this software to create my front cover for my music magazine. I will also be using this software to create my contents page and double page spread.

YouTube, I use the is app to upload my videos, so I am able to post videos on to blogger. This is because you can't post a video on blogger because the file is too big but if uploaded to youtube , I am able to upload the video from YouTube to blogger.
Wikipedia, in use this source to find information about the music industry and why they do things the way the do, or, meanings/defenition of words.

Digital SLR, in this project I used a camera to take images for my music magazine. Also for location ideas.

Prezi, I used this web page to create a PowerPoint showing my knowledge of
different ways to show my work through a variety of software's. I used this software to show my hand drawn draft and ideas for my front cover.

Google, is the main search bar I use to find images or information about music magazines and what is needed for a music magazine. Although I also use this search bar for inspirational ideas from images from the music magazines posted online.
Samsung galaxy S4 mini, this is my phone I use to look at blogger, see what I need to do, to improve.

Hudl 2, this technology, I use to comment on each of my posts and to access my blogger to see what needs completing.

Blogger, this web page I use to post all of my coursework for media studies, so its easy to access for the teachers and its easy to access now WiFi has came into 21st century.

POP Artist Locations.

Locations.

I have chosen these locations because these are typical location where either popular artist perform that are at the top of the charts or where famous artists are seen. Also these give me inspirational ideas where i could shoot my magazine images. I was thinking the beach or in a studio, near a telephone box, or near some kind of bridge. This is because i want to get a feel for the music industry and to make it as realistic as possible. realistic stands for crazy but fun atmosphere where anything could happen at that moment of time and it doesn't matter where it is.

Potential front cover, contents page and DPS.

Potential ideas!

These images are potential photos that i may use in my magazine. Some of the images look funny and fun which is what i am trying to achieve for my magazine. I believe i might use the first image of this collection because it shows the artist singing and that is what my magazine is about, its about music. However i have taken group and duet photographs because i was thinking of placing a twist on to my magazine by showing just one soloist on the front cover but the headline saying ' Does she leave the group/duo or not'? 'Read what happens inside'! This would draw the audience in and leave them in suspense until the buy and read this magazine. Also within the images themselves i was trying to achieve less amount of shadow in the background and more light, also, instead of a still photo i experimented by making my subject move round and dance, sing to a song to show realistic movement within a photo.
